2021 Annual Fall Picnic Photos

The August 14th Picnic was a total success. We met, we laughed and talked, we ate good food and enjoyed each other's company. Thanks to all those who came and helped make it a great activity! 💖

Ken Lish, Jim Harrison, Bob Holmes, Karen Tam, Ted & Judy Chlarson, Gayleen Wright Henderson, Joyce Keller, Trisha Petersen Cochrane, and Barbara Bywater Stokes (not shown: Barbara Harrison & Paula Trujillo)

Missed those who couldn't make it but looking forward to next year. Some plans suggested were having it a little later in the fall, holding it during the weekday, and reserving a spot in the Brigham Canyon Campground.

10th Annual Fall Picnic 2021

⛱⚽️ 10th Annual Class of 1969 Fall Picnic Announcement ⛱⚽️

Barbara Bywater Stokes reserved a park for our annual Picnic.
We got a late start so the Adams Park Bowery was not available but the Lindsey Park Bowery was available on Saturday 14 August from 2 to 10pm.
I'll post an official invite (+ emails) with more details in May, closer to the date but --> Mark your calendars 📅 for the 2nd Saturday in August and hoping things have improved for the pandemic restrictions.
  • Lindsey Park - 301-349 Fishburn Dr, Brigham City, UT 84302
  • Date: 14 August 2021
  • Gathering time: 2:00pm
  • Meal: 2:45 or 3pm
  • Bring your own picnic meal (BYOPM)
  • Dress for hot Weather
  • Who: All Classmates & Partners/Spouse/Significant other
I am not aware of any group size restrictions for Brigham City Parks and Covid-19 but once I have a rough number I will call them and make sure. For now, I still think it is not a good idea to do a full group Pot-Luck. If some of you want to share foods or deserts, that is up to you.
This disclaimer is posted on the Brigham Parks and Recreation website and goes for us and the planners of our picnic.
COVID-19 Update -DISCLAIMER: Participants, parents, family, and spectators engaging in the Brigham City Recreation Activities do so with knowledge of the risk and potential exposure involved and agree to accept any and all inherent risks to their personal health.
The bowery has parking, restrooms, and lots of grass but does not have Electrical Outlets. Please comment below if you have suggestions or require special accommodations.
🚩 All pandemic precautions in place in August will be observed🚩

Former BEHS Teacher Celebrates 80th Birthday

Former BEHS teacher Von Ritchie celebrated his 80th birthday early in December with his photo in the Box Elder News Journal.
(30 Dec 2014)

(Photo Update 12/2/2020)
Nearly 6 yrs later and he is still going,  Mr. Richie Spotted at Dirk Poulsen's Shop in Brigham City, Ut in Aug 2020.

Von was our World Geography, American History and Drivers Ed teacher.

Photo scanned from 1968 Year Book
We posted a notice on our Facebook Group page and got lots of fond memories of Mr Ritchie. Some are included here and hope others will be added in the comments below.

"I had Mr Ritchie for Drivers Ed. in 1973"
Kathi Lund Johnston

"I had him for Drivers Ed too! He walks to the temple every week. I didn't realize he was 80! He gets around really well!"
Karen Christensen

"Sir Richie versus Howard Gittins for Driver's Ed (and I think Beckstead was also in the mix)... "
Scotty TooTall Nielsen

"I remember when I took my driving test. Blew it the first time. Examiner said to make a left turn onto Forrest Street. I made the left turn but came up short and went to the left of the island that was there instead of the right. Passed the second time though. Practiced with dad who took me out west of town. Driving down a dirt rode about 45 MPH ... dad said make a right at an upcoming lane... Missed the lane, went down the side of the road and right through a barbed wire fence. LOL. Dad said I should slow down next time I want to make a turn. Must have learned my lessons... only two accidents ever since and one wasn't my fault. Some kid plowed into my rear end on the 5400 South offramp in Salt Lake .. coming off to fast."

This is a 2020 Status Update of events and things that have happened since our 50th Class Reunion on August 10th 2019. It is intended to inform those do not belong to our private Facebook group.
We had a very successful 50 year reunion celebration in August of last year. We had approximately 160 Classmates and Partners attend the Dinner. It was held at the Brigham City Academy Conference Center and we feasted on a buffet of Prime Rib and Chicken. The Following Photo of the group was released to those who pre-paid for it at the event. If you would like a copy or did not receive the one you paid for please contact us at our email address:
behs.classof1969@gmail.com

In the last few months we have lost 2 classmates and 2 teachers and found out about the passing of a classmate in 2005.
We found out that David Roy Minert passed away on August 17th 2019. His Memorial page and Obituary can be found at this LINK
Shannon Smith Carranza's husband notified us that she had passed away on January 24th 2020. She had been having cardiac problems. Her Memorial page and obituary can be found at this LINK
We were informed by Classmate Chuck Kimber that he found that Randall Brent Johnson passed away in April of 2005. His Memorial Page and Obituary can be found at this LINK

Teacher Earl Lynn Hone who taught high school Art and was a golf Coach passed away February 9th 2020. His Memorial page and Obituary can be found at this LINK If you know that one of our class teachers has passed away. Please let us know.
We are sad to see our classmates and teachers leave us and send our condolences to their families. They are in a better place and watch over us.
We have not made Plans for a Fall picnic yet on the traditional 2nd weekend of August. Please keep that weekend open. If anyone would like to contact Barbara and help in the planning, that would be great!

Our 50th Class Reunion Declared an Awesome Success!

Another Milestone Worthy of Celebration Passes Into Our Memories

Over 140 people came out to the Reunion Dinner held Saturday August 10th. The Brigham City Academy Conference Center comfortably held our crowd as we feasted on a buffet of Prime Rib and Chicken.
Pictures speak louder than words so here is a link to some of the photos from that night and some memories leading up to the event.
Come back this week and next week because I will be adding more photos and our group photograph.
The names of our classmates who have passed on to the other side were read and a display of photos and flowers were placed on table in honor of them.
Those who have served our country were recognized and their families
Our committee was recognized for an outstanding job of preparation. A group photo was taken and Booklets were handed out as 60's Music played in the background
We agreed to continue our annual picnics and gather again for a reunion in 2024
Thanks to all who came and especially those who helped to make it a success! We missed those who couldn't make it and hope to see them next time!
