2023 In Review

As the year draws to a close, we reflect on the loss of four classmates and many loved ones.  It's been a challenging year, but we take heart in the knowledge that we will carry them in our hearts and memories.  We grieve, but also look ahead to new possibilities and hope for a brighter future. As we grow older, we become more aware of the fragility of life and the importance of making each day count. We hope that we will see them again on the other side.

Classmate Details

As we look to the future, we ask for  blessing on our families, friends, and all those who are dear to us.  May our homes be filled with peace and comfort, our worries lifted, and our hearts full of hope.  May we rest well tonight, and awake tomorrow to a day of beauty and joy.  Amen.

2021 Annual Fall Picnic Photos

The August 14th Picnic was a total success. We met, we laughed and talked, we ate good food and enjoyed each other's company. Thanks to all those who came and helped make it a great activity! 💖

Ken Lish, Jim Harrison, Bob Holmes, Karen Tam, Ted & Judy Chlarson, Gayleen Wright Henderson, Joyce Keller, Trisha Petersen Cochrane, and Barbara Bywater Stokes (not shown: Barbara Harrison & Paula Trujillo)

Missed those who couldn't make it but looking forward to next year. Some plans suggested were having it a little later in the fall, holding it during the weekday, and reserving a spot in the Brigham Canyon Campground.

10th Annual Fall Picnic 2021

⛱⚽️ 10th Annual Class of 1969 Fall Picnic Announcement ⛱⚽️

Barbara Bywater Stokes reserved a park for our annual Picnic.
We got a late start so the Adams Park Bowery was not available but the Lindsey Park Bowery was available on Saturday 14 August from 2 to 10pm.
I'll post an official invite (+ emails) with more details in May, closer to the date but --> Mark your calendars 📅 for the 2nd Saturday in August and hoping things have improved for the pandemic restrictions.
  • Lindsey Park - 301-349 Fishburn Dr, Brigham City, UT 84302
  • Date: 14 August 2021
  • Gathering time: 2:00pm
  • Meal: 2:45 or 3pm
  • Bring your own picnic meal (BYOPM)
  • Dress for hot Weather
  • Who: All Classmates & Partners/Spouse/Significant other
I am not aware of any group size restrictions for Brigham City Parks and Covid-19 but once I have a rough number I will call them and make sure. For now, I still think it is not a good idea to do a full group Pot-Luck. If some of you want to share foods or deserts, that is up to you.
This disclaimer is posted on the Brigham Parks and Recreation website and goes for us and the planners of our picnic.
COVID-19 Update -DISCLAIMER: Participants, parents, family, and spectators engaging in the Brigham City Recreation Activities do so with knowledge of the risk and potential exposure involved and agree to accept any and all inherent risks to their personal health.
The bowery has parking, restrooms, and lots of grass but does not have Electrical Outlets. Please comment below if you have suggestions or require special accommodations.
🚩 All pandemic precautions in place in August will be observed🚩

Former BEHS Teacher Celebrates 80th Birthday

Former BEHS teacher Von Ritchie celebrated his 80th birthday early in December with his photo in the Box Elder News Journal.
(30 Dec 2014)

(Photo Update 12/2/2020)
Nearly 6 yrs later and he is still going,  Mr. Richie Spotted at Dirk Poulsen's Shop in Brigham City, Ut in Aug 2020.

Von was our World Geography, American History and Drivers Ed teacher.

Photo scanned from 1968 Year Book
We posted a notice on our Facebook Group page and got lots of fond memories of Mr Ritchie. Some are included here and hope others will be added in the comments below.

"I had Mr Ritchie for Drivers Ed. in 1973"
Kathi Lund Johnston

"I had him for Drivers Ed too! He walks to the temple every week. I didn't realize he was 80! He gets around really well!"
Karen Christensen

"Sir Richie versus Howard Gittins for Driver's Ed (and I think Beckstead was also in the mix)... "
Scotty TooTall Nielsen

"I remember when I took my driving test. Blew it the first time. Examiner said to make a left turn onto Forrest Street. I made the left turn but came up short and went to the left of the island that was there instead of the right. Passed the second time though. Practiced with dad who took me out west of town. Driving down a dirt rode about 45 MPH ... dad said make a right at an upcoming lane... Missed the lane, went down the side of the road and right through a barbed wire fence. LOL. Dad said I should slow down next time I want to make a turn. Must have learned my lessons... only two accidents ever since and one wasn't my fault. Some kid plowed into my rear end on the 5400 South offramp in Salt Lake .. coming off to fast."
